We started our business in March of 2012. It is what I would call serendipity. One February day, I came through the Coffee Grounds drive-thru looking for my daughter-in-law (Trina) who worked there. She wasn't there when I arrived, but I noticed a sign on the window stating that they were looking for a baker. It just so happened, I was looking for a job, and I asked for an application. When I saw Trina, I told her I was going to try to get the baker's job at the coffee shop. She then told me that the current owners of the business were interested in selling the coffee shop.
"...we figured between the two of us, we could do it."
We instantly looked at each other and started planning how we could make the business "our way". I had experience in deli-bakery, and Trina had cafe and catering experience. We figured between the two of us, we could do it. When my husband and I first moved to Indiana, I had plans to open a bakery. However, the timing just wasn't right. This time everything moved very quickly with our plans, and at the end of March 2012, our business-journey began. Our family members have helped with the business and work here with us. We've also had excellent help from our employees, who've become like our family. Like with any business, there have been challenges, but we keep each other going. If one of us gets down, the other one kicks in harder. There isn't anything we would change because it is what has made our business what it is today. We have an amazing customer base that grows daily. We are always coming up with new ideas through trial and error.
Most importantly, we enjoy making our customers happy.
